TheatreScope
1995-2008

Thank you for your patronage.

TheatreScope was a unique publication devoted to covering new plays for industry professionals. Laurie Levy initially created TheatreScope in 1988 as a firm seeking new writers and material; this evolved into a weekly newsletter catering to Hollywood's appetite for new scripts. When Martha Thomas took the helm in 1996, she developed the editorial content, including international shows, and increased the subscriber base with a national focus. Lee Caron (2000-2008) enhanced TheatreScope’s brand by further expanding its markets and coverage. An online presence and digital technologies were added, and readership grew across a variety of industries. Despite a growing presence, TheatreScope went out of business during the economic turmoil of the 2008 Recession.

We would like to thank the countless theater lovers who made the publication so distinctive, especially our West Coast contributor, Jennie Webb, and our Critic-at-Large, Daniel Selznick, who offered invaluable support for much of publication's final decade.
